How are NuImage Awnings in the wind? Can I leave my awning open all the time?
|
- Our awnings are sturdy and do very well in the wind. However, awnings are intended to be retracted when not in use anyway, we do recommend that you retract them during strong, gusty winds. Because they retract, they’re great for breezy locations where a permanent awning would be somewhat impractical and prone to damage.
|
9. |
Can I adjust the front height of the awning?
|
- Yes, The NuImage Awning 8000 Series has adjustable shoulders which allow you to adjust the front height easily to suit your preferences. You can move it up or down to block the sun as you wish.
- The front height on the other models can also be adjusted, but it requires a few mechanical steps.
|
10. |
What about rain? Will I have problems with leaks?
|
- Our retractable awnings are made for sun protection only. Warranties do not cover damage caused by adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow or sleet.
|
11. |
Can I install the awning on vinyl or aluminum siding, stucco, or on masonry?
|
- Yes. You just cut away the siding, mount a pressure treated ledger board 2" x 8" (the same width as your awning) wrap it in aluminum, then mount the awning to the board.
- Or, you can paint the board the same color as your house or trim if you want so it will blend in nicely with your siding or trim.
- Our stationary canopies or awnings can be installed directly onto any siding, be sure that the screws are mounted into studs for a secure fit.

Do I have to take down my awning and store it over the winter?
|
- No, however we do suggest you remove the valance during the winter months.
|
14. |
Is the awning fabric easy to clean?
|
- One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella brand fabrics looking good and to delay the need for deep or vigorous cleanings is to hose fabrics off on a periodic basis with clear water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply imbedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more frequent vigorous cleanings. In most environments, a thorough cleaning will be needed every two to three years.
- When it's time for a thorough cleaning, Sunbrella fabrics can be cleaned while still on an awning frame.
- When cleaning Sunbrella fabrics, it is important to observe the following:
- Always use a mild soap (i.e. Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite), Never detergent.
- Water should be cold to lukewarm. Never more than 100 degrees.
- Air dry only. Never apply heat to Sunbrella fabrics.
